One of the best ways that a laboratory has to demonstrate the quality of its work is participating in Proficiency Testing Schemes. Proficiency Testing is made up of a set of laboratories that have to analyse identical samples provided by the organizing body, several times a year. 

The pursued aims are:

- To improve the results of the laboratories.
- To check the imprecision of the obtained results with the analytical methods used in the own laboratory.
- To compare the inaccuracy of the own analytical methods with those of other participants.
- To support the external quality control.
- To provide suggestions to improve the features of the laboratory.

LABAQUA has a large experience in this field, as it is organizing since 1996, together with CALITAX, (since 2003: CALITAX-LABAQUA, A.I.E.) Proficiency Testing Schemes in the environmental sector.

Nowadays the organization of these circiuts is the responsibility of ielab company engaged in the delivery of services and products for the application of quality in testing laboratories, having the following planned circuits: Drinking waters, raw waters, wastewaters, sea waters, solids in waters, organic compounds in solids, sludges, liquid and solid residues, soils, atmospheric pollution, microbiology in drinking waters and in wastewaters, Legionella (culture and PCR), Biota, PCBs in dielectric oils, etc.
